What if plastic holds were made of wood or wood holds made of plastic...?

New climbing holds can chew up your skin pretty quick. Typically what ends your session is your skin yelling at you to stop not you ability to grab holds. Commercial holds are often sharp and highly textured. You will notice that when you get a fresh set of holds and they feel magically easy to hold but, tear through your skin.

Over time this will fade but, on homewalls this can take forever. It is an unspoken secret that the best home and spray walls holds are really old/used or they are new holds that have been sanded down to simulate a used hold by removing some of the grit.

We have personally sanded every single commercial hold we have on our homewall. To solve this we have designed our holds to have a fine micro texture and every hold is designed to have dual texture.

The reasoning for this is to give the tools to focus on grabbing and holding a hold. With high texture your skin is doing majority of the work and your connective tissue is just supporting that. We really like how nice our texture is and how much you can benefit from grabbing rather than skin hanging.
